- C@P (or CAP) stands for Community Access Program.
- It was established in 1994 through the Connecting Canadians Initiative by Industry Canada.
- C@P has over 4000 site across Canada, even is some of the most rural communities. Check out http://capcbco.ca/?page_id=13 for a list of sites with the C@P Society of Cape Breton County.
- C@P allows anyone the chance, wherever they live to take advantage of emerging opportunities in the global knowledge technology-based economy.
What can C@P do for me?
- C@P provides high speed Internet access to those in the community that may not have it available to them. Whether you physically do not have the Internet, or are just unable to access it, C@P is here for you!
- C@P provides entry level training in the information technology field to anyone in the community. We teach everything from turning a computer on and using programs, to using digital devices (cameras, GPS, etc.), and getting an email address.
- C@P provides a place to do research and/or work on a paper, or even just a spot to get away from home and relax on the computer (maybe on Facebook) away from disturbances.
What can I do to support my local C@P?
- The easiest way to support your local C@P is use its facilities. Show up and go on the Internet, or sign up for a course or two. We strongly encourage everyone to make the best use they can.
- Spread the word. Let people know about C@P and what it has to offer. Know someone who has trouble with Facebook, Picasa, eBay, or even just a computer in general? Let them know about the courses we have to offer! C@P loves to help people in the community - it's why we're here!
